Sweet Sweet Summertime

This time of year there is always so much to do. The Summer weather invites us outside more, the days are longer, and the to-do list is never ending.


Despite all of this it is important to set the hustle of life aside for rest and play.

Both rest and play nourish the soul deeply.


Depending on the activity play can be restful.

And sometimes you may need extra rest from your playing.


Don’t let your practice sizzle out in this beautiful Summer heat! This time of year is when we most need to continue making it to the mat. We may tell ourselves we are getting enough activity in, but often we aren’t moving the body in the ways we need to.

Your best practice is a consistent practice.

FREE Yoga On Schuyler | Co-Offered with the Kankakee Farmers Market

UPCOMING: 8:30 - 9:15 am → 7/6 + 8/3 (FIRST SATURDAYS OF THE MONTH)

Join an Align Light Instructor right on the corner of Merchant + Schuyler for a free monthly class ON THE STREET! In the event of rain class will be held in studio.


 

Sourdough + Savasana

Bread and yoga? Is there anything better?!

Join Angie of Align Light Yoga and Lauren from Oates and Doughs for a unique yoga and sourdough experience! A gentle yoga class will start off the evening with an extended savasana of 15 minutes at the end of the class. Eye pillows, blankets, and bolsters will be offered if desired. Class will be followed by a short talk from Lauren on the health benefits of sourdough bread and some Q and A time! Everyone leaves with a sourdough baked goods sampler box from Oates and Doughs! There will be a dairy free option as well, just choose that at checkout.


Dairy box includes: one mini sourdough loaf, one scone, and one frosted cinnamon twist.

Only requirement for the yoga class is the ability to get up and down from the floor with ease. Class duration will be 30 minutes of a gentle practice with a 15 minute Savasana for a total of a 45 minute practice.

Additional sourdough items will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the evenings class! Watch the social media pages for updates on additional items offered!

Kids Yoga | Ages 5-12

UPCOMING:  11:00 - 11:30 am → July 21st + August 18th

INVESTMENT: $10 per kid. One parent or guardian can accompany them at no cost.

Join Jeanna Vent Fodor as she guides the kids to explore yoga poses through songs, stories, imaginative play, and activities that engage and give them the tools to feel calmer, happier, and more peaceful inside!


Yoga can help kids build confidence, improve knowledge of oneself and one's body. Stimulate balance and elasticity & promote freedom of expression. Improve concentration, brain activities & expressing emotions and moods as best as possible.


 



Yak + Yoga Outing

UPCOMING:

Sunday July 28th @ 8:00 am AND Thursday August 1st @ 6:00 pm

INVESTMENT:

Monthly Members - $30

($20 if you bring your own kayak)

NonMembers - $40

($30 if you bring your own kayak)

Combine play and relaxation in this unique outing. Join Marissa as she shares her little slice of heaven with you. We will begin the event with a 45 minute movement practice on the river sea wall to loosen stiff muscles and prepare the body to paddle. After our practice we will board the kayaks and travel up river along the shore. We will kayak approximately one mile round trip. The event concludes with a short cool down practice and extended savasana for the ultimate Kankakee River experience.


Basic life jackets will be provided, if you have your own you are encouraged to bring it. After registering for this event you will receive a detailed email with location, guidelines and any other important information leading up to the event.


Space is LIMITED due to the amount of kayaks available, DON’T WAIT SAVE YOUR SPOT TODAY!


Should we encounter rain on the day of the event rescheduled dates will be exactly one week after - Sunday August 4th @ 8:00 am and Thursday August 8th @ 6:00 pm


 

Kundalini | Gong Healing + Mantra Meditation

UPCOMING: 7:00 - 9:00 pm → August 30th

INVESTMENT:  $30 Non Members, $25 Monthly Members

Kundalini Yoga is a combination of movement, breath (pranayama), meditation, and chanting. Its goal is not only to make the body stronger and more energetic but also to increase your level of self-awareness and consciousness. Each workshop begins with a light Kriya (set of exercises) clearing out the "junk" in your system, and preparing the body for laying comfortably to receive healing from the Gong. After 31 blissful minutes of sound healing we will slowly come back to seated for a mantra meditation together. Tea is served before departing.


 






Intro to Mindfulness

Intro to Mindfulness By Yogi Marquis is a course that teaches adults how to consciously use their mind’s presence, awareness, and focus to bring more peace, prosperity, and relaxation into their lives.


Each week, we embark on a new journey of self-discovery, exploring a diverse range of mindfulness techniques. From meditation and journaling to movement, breath, and artistry, our course offers a rich tapestry of tools for improved mental health, emotional resilience, and internal well-being. The goal is for you to leave every class with a new technique you can apply in life. Self-knowledge is the Ultimate Self-Care.

Each session will end with everyone getting into a comfortable, laying position on their mats. Yogi Marquis will lead a luxurious Yoga Nidra Guided Meditation practice, relaxing you deeply into a peaceful waking sleep. His melodic voice will caress your mind, relax your body, and inspire your spirit.

This class is beginner-friendly. All movement will be easy. Each class may feature group dialogue, self-inquiry, walking meditation, journaling, partner work, or guided visualization.

Dress comfortably, like you’re walking to a friend’s place for yoga and a nap. Bring water, a pen, and a journal. You may also bring a yoga mat, eye cover, and any pillows or blankets you need to relax in the comfort or luxury of your choosing.
